Freak Accident Injures UK Cheerleader | LEX18.com | Lexington, Kentucky

Meet Karl Towns Jr- 15 Year old phenom expected to visit Lexington with the DR team practices. Coach Cal is awesome!

Run This Town

A 15-year-old phenom well ahead of his age.

With the already established talent and an expected growth beyond 7-feet, high schools are focusing the efforts toward aligning themselves with Towns. Towns was named MVP of the 17-U AAU nationals this past weekend. This summer, Towns was invited to try out for the Dominican Republic National U-17 team (his mother’s family is from the DR) and in the process, he became not only the youngest player to be named to the roster, but one of the team’s first selections. With the next couple months spent between Lexington Kentucky and the DR, Towns Jr has a lot of family experiences ahead.

LeBron James Academy Day 4 recap

AKRON, Ohio -- It's over at the LeBron James Skills Academy and the kings of the Class of 2012 and beyond stated their cases. Here are the guys who finished camp strong and move onto the next stop with a great deal of confidence, having played extremely well in front of the big boys in college basketball.

Reports that Coach Cal may offer Kasey Hill.

Strengths:
Hill is a wiry strong and smooth combination guard is at his best when attacking the basket. In transition he displayed a great burst of speed to separate from defenders and in the half court Hill can finish in traffic with either hand. He uses a great catch and go move along with a terrific first step when he attacks from a stationary position to beat his defender. Hill seems to favor the left side of the floor along the baseline although he can score going both ways. He likes the spin move to get by the second defender before he completes an acrobatic finish with excellent body control. Hill's handle is tight and fluid and he is a willing passer with excellent court vision and feel for the game. He is a terrific drive, draw and kick passer. Hill simply scored going to the rim at will while making it look easy. Kasey is also a solid on ball defender.http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/100776/kasey-hill

Brewster Academy small forward T.J. Warren has reportedly received an offer from Kentucky’s staff,

No. 1 attention put on Davis

Anthony Davis is the guy everybody's watching in the college portion of the LeBron James Skills Academy at the University of Akron. Last year, Davis was here as part of the high school camp. Next summer, there's plenty of reason to believe he'll join the likes of James and Irving in the exclusive club of first players called to the stage by NBA commissioner David Stern.

"Before my junior year (of high school), I was 6-2 or 6-3," Davis said. "Then over last summer, I sprouted up to 6-8, 6-10. That's when all the madness started to happen."

Michael Gilchrist Changes His Name

McDonald’s All-American Michael Gilchrist will go by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist when he plays his first game forKentucky this season. The name change is to honor his father, Michael Gilchrist Sr., and his uncle, Darrin Kidd, both of whom are deceased. Kidd-Gilchrist (which he will be known by here from now on) announced the change on his Twitter:
Im Happy! Just got cleared my name is Mike Kidd-Gilchrist repping my Father & My uncle.
Kidd-Gilchrist’s father was killed in 1996. His uncle died the day Kidd-Gilchrist was ready to sign his Letter of Intent. His nephew tried to save his life by attempting CPR on him that day.
Now with a new name, Kidd-Gilchrist will join a highly-touted recruiting class at Kentucky next season that also features Anthony Davis, Marquis Teague and Kyle Wiltjer.
